MORNING MEETING:
Setting Daily Intentions in the Jesuit Tradition
At Xavier Jesuit Academy, our day begins with Morning Meeting, a cherished 30-minute ritual that embodies our Jesuit educational mission. This intentional gathering creates a sacred space where our community sets the tone for the day ahead. Students and faculty begin with the XJA prayer and student pledge, reinforcing our shared values and purpose.
Each Morning Meeting features an "Intention of the Day" theme that offers focus and purpose for our young men. These intentions—ranging from gratitude and perseverance to compassion and academic excellence—provide a lens through which students approach their experiences, interactions, and challenges.
Morning Meeting reflects our commitment to forming "men for others" through:
- Care for the Whole Person (Cura Personalis) - Recognizing that education extends beyond academics to include spiritual, emotional, and social dimensions.
- Finding God in All Things - Through prayer, reflection, and community engagement, helping our young men recognize God's presence in everyday interactions.
- Building Community - Creating space for authentic connections between students, teachers, and the broader community.
- Engagement with the World - Welcoming community leaders and parents as guest speakers demonstrating how Jesuit values can be lived out in various contexts.
