Academics

Xavier Jesuit Academy, a member of the Jesuit Schools Network and a sponsored ministry of the Jesuits Midwest Province, prepares young men to be leaders and “Men for Others” through disciplined academic preparation for life in the Catholic and Jesuit tradition while enriching their families and communities.

What is Jesuit Education?

Jesuit education is education from the whole person: intellectual, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual. Jesuit schools have a 500-year track record of academic excellence and faith formation.

What are the values of Jesuit education?

  • Jesuit education teaches us that the world is “charged with the grandeur of God’ because it's made by God. Everything in it is worth learning about and thinking about. Going to a Jesuit school makes learning exciting and full of surprises, like discovering new things about the world God created.
  • God shows Godself in people because they're made in God’s image. Jesuit schools care about each student and help them grow in every way, knowing that God loves them personally.
  • To all, whatever their beliefs, Christ is proposed as the model of human life. We can all learn from how He loved and forgave others, helped those suffering, and spent His life serving people.

Who are the Society of Jesus?

The Society of Jesus, a Catholic order of priests and brothers founded by Ignatius Loyola and six companions, is commonly known as "the Jesuits." Following Ignatius' vision to "find God in all things," the Jesuits commit themselves to serving God and humanity. They collaborate with others who share their values, extending the Jesuit family to include laypersons. With over 16,000 members worldwide, the Jesuits are the most significant male religious order in the Catholic Church. Their diverse roles include pastoral work, teaching, and various professions such as medicine, law, and astronomy. Their ministries prioritize holistic care, aiming to support individuals in body, mind, and spirit. Education holds a special place, where the Jesuits strive to cultivate individuals dedicated to serving others. Read more about the Society of Jesus on JESUITS.ORG.
